Paid links, and the four things they may never touch

Right now this site earns nothing from any outbound link. Every insurer link goes to the company's own page with no tracking code attached, and no affiliate programme is active. This page exists so that the rules are written down and dated rather than assumed — and so that the day the first commission arrives, nothing about how the site works has to change in order for it to still be honest.

Where money could enter

Exactly one place: the insurance section on the 17 country pages and the early-retirement hub. Three carriers are named there, chosen because their published age rules are checkable and because between them they cover the three situations a reader can actually be in — under sixty-five, the closing window, and over it.

Carrier terms last checked 2026-08. Being listed here is not an endorsement and no carrier has any say over what this site publishes, including about them — the age ceilings we print are the least flattering fact on their own terms pages.

Four things a paid link may never touch

  1. Never in a ranking, a score or a comparison

No country moves up or down because an insurer pays us, and no scoring input is derived from commercial relationships. The scoring code carries no knowledge that this page exists — the recipe is public on /method and the inputs are public in the dataset, so this is a claim you can check rather than one you have to accept.

  2. Never in the dataset, the embeds or the machine-readable surfaces

The CSV, the JSON, the frozen edition, the embeddable rankings, /ai-answers and /data carry no paid links at all. These are the surfaces other people cite and republish under CC BY 4.0, and a commercial link riding into someone else's article on the back of our licence would be a betrayal of the licence.

  3. Never rendered as advice

We are not brokers, agents or advisers, and we are not licensed to be. Everything on the insurance pages is descriptive — what a carrier's own published terms say, and what age each door closes at. You will not find a sentence here telling you which policy to buy, because writing one would be both outside our competence and outside what an unlicensed publisher is permitted to do.

  4. Never at the cost of the answer someone cannot act on

The age band where no carrier will sell you anything is the band that earns us nothing, and it is written at the same length and care as the rest. If that section ever thins out to make room for the bands that convert, the problem is not that section.

Why we say this rather than simply not taking the money

A site about where to spend the rest of your life, funded by nothing, is a site that quietly stops being updated. Immigration thresholds move, tax deals sunset, and the only thing that keeps 17 country files current is somebody being paid to re-check them. Pretending otherwise would not make this site more trustworthy; it would make it a snapshot that slowly turns into misinformation while still looking maintained.

So the question was never whether to take money, but where to put it so it cannot bend anything. The answer we arrived at is the four rules above: money may sit next to a fact, never inside one.
